Common questions
Can I trust the questions?
Questions and marking are made by AI and can be wrong. That is why every question shows the page and the passage of your note it came from — check it there. If a question is wrong, report it and it will not be shown again.
What can I add?
Photos of your notes, handouts, whiteboards and textbook pages, taken with the built-in scanner or picked from your photos, and PDFs. Handwriting, vertical Japanese text and math work. A note can hold up to 5 photos or 10 PDF pages on the free plan, and up to 20 photos or 50 PDF pages on a paid plan.
Do I need to sign up?
No. Mekuri starts without an account. Link Apple or Google in the Settings tab when you want to keep your notes on a new phone.
What is free?
3 notes and 5 AI markings in total, and 1 exam. Reviewing the questions you have made is unlimited on every plan, including the free one.
Which language are the questions in?
By default, the same language as each note. You can choose English or Japanese instead in the Settings tab. The app itself is in English and Japanese.
Are my notes used to train AI?
No. Your notes, tests and answers are used only to make and mark your own questions, and only you can see them.
How do I delete my account?
In the Settings tab, tap Delete account. Cancel your subscription in the App Store or Google Play first — deleting your account does not cancel it. What is deleted is listed on the account deletion page.
Cancelling your subscription
Subscriptions are managed by the store you bought from, so cancellation happens there rather than in the app. Deleting the app does not cancel it.
- iPhone or iPad: Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions → Mekuri → Cancel Subscription.
- Android: Play Store → your profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Mekuri → Cancel.
You keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.
Deleting your data
Deleting the app does not delete your account. To delete your account and everything stored for it, use the app:
- Open Mekuri and go to the Settings tab.
- Tap Delete account, near the bottom.
- Tap Delete permanently.
- If you linked Apple, confirm with Apple when asked. This lets Mekuri revoke its access to your Apple ID; if you cancel here, nothing is deleted.
Cancel any subscription first, as above — deleting your account does not cancel it. What is deleted, what is kept, and how to ask us if you can no longer open the app are on Deleting your account. To keep your notes when you change phones, link Apple or Google in the Settings tab. To keep a copy of your own, use Export my data.
Reporting a problem
If something is wrong — a reminder that did not arrive, an export that looks incorrect, a purchase that did not unlock — email us with the device and operating system version, and what you expected to happen. Mekuri sends crash and error reports to Firebase Crashlytics, but they contain only the step where something failed and an error code — never your notes or answers — so it helps a lot when you tell us what you were doing.
Still stuck? Write to the address above — a person reads it.
