Common questions

Will it sound better than the camera app?

That is the thing to test rather than take our word for. Record the same passage twice, once with your camera and once with Segno, and listen to the quiet bars. What Segno changes is that the automatic level control is off, so the difference between loud and quiet is the one you played.

Can I submit the video to an audition?

Segno exports MP4 with the audio recorded through the same path as an audio-only take. There is no cut editing — you can trim the start and the end and nothing else — so a take stays one unedited take, which is what prescreening rules usually ask for. Check the specific requirements of the school or competition yourself.

Is it stereo?

On iPhone the recording mode that turns off processing uses a single microphone, so those takes are mono. Segno also has a stereo mode, which uses the mode iOS offers for video: it combines several microphones, and the result is genuinely wider. Both are available, and the take records which one was used.

Does it work without a signal?

Yes. Recording, playback, comparison and export all happen on the phone. Nothing needs a network, which matters in a hall or a practice room in a basement.

What happens if a call comes in while I am recording?

The take pauses and picks up again when the interruption ends, and the gap is marked so you know it is there. The same happens if earphones are unplugged. What was recorded before the interruption is already on disk.

Can I use an external microphone?

Yes. A USB-C microphone or audio interface is detected and used automatically, and Segno leaves its sound alone — the correction meant for the built-in microphone is switched off.

What happens to my recordings if I stop subscribing?

They stay, and you can still play and export them. What a subscription unlocks is new recording. We are not going to hold a recital you played hostage to a renewal.

Can I cut out a mistake?

No, and that is on purpose. Trimming the start and the end is everything Segno will do, because a take that has been cut is no longer the single take an audition asked for.

Cancelling your subscription

Subscriptions are managed by the store you bought from, so cancellation happens there rather than in the app. Deleting the app does not cancel it.

  • iPhone or iPad: Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions → Segno → Cancel Subscription.
  • Android: Play Store → your profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions → Segno → Cancel.

You keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.

Deleting your data

Your records are stored on your device only. Deleting the app deletes them, and there is no copy anywhere else. Export the takes you want to keep — WAV, ALAC, AAC or MP4 — and save them to Files, AirDrop them, or put them wherever you keep your backups. Takes live inside the app, so deleting the app deletes them.

We hold no account for you. The only thing associated with you on our side is the subscription record described in the privacy policy. To have that deleted, email support@ludicrous.co.jp and tell us which store you bought from and roughly when. Deleting it does not cancel an active subscription — cancel that in the store, as above.

Reporting a problem

If something is wrong — a reminder that did not arrive, an export that looks incorrect, a purchase that did not unlock — email us with the device and operating system version, and what you expected to happen. There is no crash reporting in the app, so nothing reaches us unless you tell us.

Still stuck? Write to the address above — a person reads it.
