Printable sheet
Free restaurant temperature log template
A blank sheet for any refrigeration or hot-holding unit: seven days, three checks a day, and a block at the bottom for anything that came out of range. Write your own target at the top — the defaults printed on our other sheets are the US Food Code numbers, and yours may differ.
The sheet
What is on it
- Header
- Unit or location, the target range, the week beginning, and who is filling it in.
- Grid
- A row per day, three checks across: the time, the temperature, and initials for each.
- Notes
- A column per day, wide enough for the sentence that explains an odd number.
- Corrective
- Four ruled rows for out-of-range readings: date, time, unit, the reading, what you did, initials.
Using it
How to keep it
- Print one sheet per unit and tape it to the unit, not to the office wall. A log kept where the thermometer is gets filled in.
- Write the target range in before the first check. A column of figures with nothing to compare them against records that somebody looked, and nothing else.
- Rule the three check times into the header so everyone on shift writes at the same moments.
- When a reading is outside the range, fill in the block at the bottom. The corrective action is the part that gets read.
On the phone
The same log, without the clipboard
ChillCheck keeps this grid on the phone and asks at each check time, so a blank is noticed on the day rather than at the end of the month. The month exports as a PDF laid out like this sheet, from the same code that drew it.
